According to the US Geological Survey’s (USGS) Mineral Commodity Summaries 2026, world magnesite mine production was about 21.0 million tonnes in 2025 (2024: 21.1 million tonnes).

|---|---|---|
| China | 12,900 | 12,700 |
| Brazil | 1,850 | 1,800 |

China’s share and consolidation
China alone accounts for about 60% of world output. In Liaoning, China’s most important magnesite province, the number of mining enterprises fell from 114 in 2020 to 63 in 2024, with 56 expected by the end of 2025.
Reserves
USGS puts Türkiye’s magnesite reserves at 110 million tonnes. Russia (2.3 billion tonnes), China (700 million tonnes) and Australia (280 million tonnes) are among the countries with large reserves.
Türkiye and Eskişehir
Türkiye is known for its fine-grained (cryptocrystalline), high-purity magnesite deposits, and Eskişehir is one of their main centres. Our production at the Ballık site carries this tradition forward.
