Open-pit mining

Magnesite ore is extracted by open-pit mining at Ballık, within Satılmışoğlu in the Tepebaşı district, on a site licensed to our company.

Two-stage production and beneficiation

Run-of-mine ore is processed on two lines according to grain size. At the end of both lines, the product is sorted by hand using the difference in colour.

Stage 1

Raw magnesite

Run-of-mine extraction, ore extracted from the open pit
Crushing, reduction to workable size
Screening, classification by grain size
Washing, removal of clay and dust
Hand sorting, sorting by colour

Product size2–10 cm

Stage 2

Fine-grained raw magnesite

Fine ore, 0.5–2 cm fraction
Magnetic separation, removal of impurities such as serpentine
Washing, surface cleaning
Hand sorting, final quality sorting
