The route a piece of magnesite takes before it reaches industry directly determines its quality. At our Ballık site we run production on two lines by grain size: 2–10 cm raw magnesite and 0.5–2 cm fine-grained raw magnesite.
1. Open pit
The ore is taken from the benched open pit on our licensed site as run-of-mine ore, as it comes out of the ground.
2. Crushing
Run-of-mine ore is reduced to workable sizes in crushers.
3. Screening
Screens split the material into two lines by grain size: 2–10 cm and 0.5–2 cm.
4. Washing
A washing drum removes clay and dust from the surface of the ore. A clean surface makes the white ore easier to pick out at the next stage.
5. Sorting and magnetic separation
On the picking belt our teams sort the magnesite by hand using colour: the white stays, the gangue is removed. On the fine-grained line, a magnetic separator holds back impurities such as serpentine.
6. Stockpiling and shipment
The products are shipped from the stockyard to our customers in Türkiye and abroad as required.
For the environment
We suppress dust at source with a water spray system in the pit and the plant, and carry out ore processing under cover. Our full environmental policy is on our sustainability page.
